1983 Setlist

1983 - Setlist

Because of the theatrical set-up of the show, the setlist was basically the same every night...

First Set:

Heaven
Thank You For Sending Me An Angel
Love -> Building On Fire
The Book I Read
Slippery People
Cities
Big Blue Plymouth
Burning Down The House
Life During Wartime

Second Set:
Making Flippy Floppy
Swamp
What A Day That Was
This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)
Once In A Lifetime
Big Business
I Zimbra
Houses In Motion
Genius Of Love
Girlfriend Is Better
Take Me To The River
Encore: Crosseyed & Painless

By Mid-August (August 9th thru September 4th), they added a second encore, which was a repeat of Burning Down the House.

On the October leg of the tour, a few of the first shows on that leg had Pull Up the Roots for Encore #1, followed by Crosseyed & Painless as Encore #2. (The only tapes with Pull Up the Roots are from UVM and Providence. The song is not on the Binghampton tape, and is not listed in the newspaper review of the Rochester show, which listed the full setlist.)

For the December leg of the tour, they reverted back to only one encore, which was Crosseyed & Painless.

For the Pantages shows during the movie filming, Love -> Building on Fire and The Book I Read were removed from the setlist and replaced by Found a Job.

Two known exceptions to the setlist...

TH played a shortened one-set opening slot before the Police at Montreal on August 3rd.

Also, at Lowell MA on October 2nd, there was a power failure near the end of the first set, and the set was cut short. The show was shortened, and unfolded like this...

First Set:
Psycho Killer
Heaven
Love -> Building On Fire
The Book I Read
Slipper People
Cities
Big Blue Plymouth
*Power failure*

Second Set:
Burning Down The House
Making Flippy Floppy

What A Day That Was
This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)
Once In A Lifetime
Big Business
I Zimbra
Houses In Motion
Genius Of Love
Girlfriend Is Better
Take Me To The River
Encore: Life During Wartime
